Hi Mohegan Lakers,
It's been a great summer. So summery. Back to work though. There are a lot of issues we have to discuss this fall. Don't you want to know when oral arguments are calendared for the legal appeal in the 2nd Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department? So nervous [both hands wafting air towards face].
Back to the subject: do not steal from Sears at the Jefferson Valley Mall. While we prefer you don't steal at all, because it is wrong, don't steal from Sears. They will press charges against you and put your name in the paper--for any amount of merchandise. It's not worth it. So in summary, don't steal from Sears. Just look at this link to a Daily Voice search for "Sears." Several a month.
Be good,

Mohegan Lake Legal Defense Fund
History of this site
This site was originally set up to fight 3 of 5 zoning variances proposed by the FBC development at Sagamore Trail and Mohegan Ave that eliminates two single family homes while nearly quadrupling the parking and occupancy loads of the old Lakeland Jewish Center. That effort failed and the application is currently before the Planning Board.
While Save Mohegan Lake will continue to update you on that issue, we are moving on to all issues affecting the lake, such as Mohegan Lake Improvement District (MLID) meetings, agenda and budget. This site is not an official mouthpiece for MLID, but some updates will be provided on this site; the official site is located here.
We do it all here, so long as it's Mohegan Lake related. Feel free to submit comments, content, garage sale notices, police blotters, PSA's, essays on the virtues of our 105 acre ice rink, rants, raves, etc... We love it all.

Mohegan Lake Puppy Mill
"Only one protester, animal rights activist Karen Conlon, who lives in New York, attended a planned rally outside state Superior Court in Danbury. She said she hoped that drawing attention to Doyle’s case would force the closure of the Danbury shop, as well as his two other stores in Mamaroneck, N.Y., and Mohegan Lake, N.Y."
Apparently this "American Breeders" puppy mill has been next to Subway for years. Just noticed it after Mr. Doyle started making the news.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catchism Teacher Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Charges
We don't get much ink in the New York Times in this neck of the woods. Not the most uplifting story, but local nonetheless.
Before becoming chief, Mr. Fanelli volunteered for six years as a fifth-grade catechism teacher at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak, N.Y. He also led special sessions on sexual abuse, delving into topics such as inappropriate touching. A church letter said he discussed “the pitfalls of social media devices, games and computer applications.”

The Most Dangerous Game
And...we're back from an extended silence. Lots of things to catch up on, including our lawsuit against the Yorktown Zoning Board of Appeals which is currently wending through the 2nd Appellate Division in Brooklyn.
But first, we got this alert from LoHud last night about a Mohegan Lake man that shot a crossbow at a Mohegan Park employee (seems he didn't like staying there). Stay alert out there, kids.

Police Blotter
This story is chock full o' nuts juicy quotes. From the Cortlandt section of Mohegan Lake (Seven Oaks), we have an exciting love triangle turned stabby.
“Evidently, Al punctured Larry’s liver,” she said. “I don’t understand how that could happen because Larry is huge. He’s like 600 pounds.”
“Larry has a lot of nerve pressing charges,” she said. “The only reason Al had the knife and gun was because of Larry’s dog. And Larry picked up the speaker and hit Al. Al hit him back with the pellet gun.”

Mohegan Lake Police Blotter: Napoli's Edition
The Daily Yorktown is reporting that one of the two brothers at Napoli pizza was arrested for selling cigarettes to a minor. I've seen them selling loosies before. This is a shame. For what it's worth, I still think they make the best pie in the area at a very reasonable price. Plus they are pretty funny guys. They should just get out of the cigarette business altogether. In related news, I quit smoking over 3 years ago using Chantix.
